Infinity Column II's

Hello all,
I have an opportunity to buy a pair of Infinity Column II's for $40. I've done some searching and there isn't a lot of info on these speakers. The down firing speakers have both been repaired and it was a sloppy job at best. Both of the cases are fair, light scratches and some chipping here and there.

I'm not sure what I'll do with them since I have a pair of SM-152's now but for $40 I'm going to have a hard time passing them up.

Now convincing the wife that I need another pair of Infinity speakers will be the hard part.....LOL (Lately I've bought a pair of 62's, 82's, and 185's)

So I guess my questions are this:

Are these worth the cost even though I'll need to do some repairs?

How do these compare to my 152's?

Thanks in advance for your input and suggestions.

I would by them just to resell them. If you don't like them, or your wife shuns them you should have no trouble getting your money back plus a lot more.

Column II's

Well, I did end up buying them and will pick them up on Saturday.

Does anyone have any specs on these speakers? What is the size of the case? I need to make sure they will fit in my car.

I needed another project like a hole in my head but hey for $40 I'll take the risk.

I found the case dimensions:

39.5 H x 14 1/4 W x 12 D

They will fit in my car just fine.

Does anybody have any other specs? Such as specs on the speakers?

Column II's

Well....I picked the Column II's today and I'm pleased to say the least!

When I got home I immediately hooked them up and they sound great. All the speakers appear to be functioning. They do sound different (as in a bit brighter...perhaps the two tweeters?) as opposed to my SM-152's.

They do need some work:
new grille cloth
crossover updates? caps?
tweeter in the back of one speaker has come loose
one woofer is missing a dustcap
case needs to be cleaned (someone put a coat of shellac on the cases...yes, shellac)

Does anyone know how the original finish should appear?
Was the color light or dark?

I'm thinking about refinishing them with a walnut stain. I've done quite a bit of refinishing so this is a task I can handle.

This is my first speaker restoration so any advice (as in lessons learned) would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance! :)
