My mom wants to get my dad a portable audio player for the house. My dad is a luddite so it should be simple to operate. She asked about the $500 Bose system but I told her that I'd probably avoid it. So her budget is probably anything under $500. Also she wants to get it locally so it can easily be returned if he doesn't like it.
He has an inexpensive mp3 player (non apple) and is comfortable operating that.
Can you guys recommend something that is decent quality and good buy for the money. Probably should play cds and have an aux input for an mp3 player. I think I could convince him/her that a cd player isn't necessary if that's the best option. He wouldn't know 'good' versus 'great' sound if he had all week to compare.
I'm guessing he wouldn't care to look at something that is gaudy or is overly boomboxed out for the younger crowd.
