is this movie available in BD ? netflix says no. but i just saw it on ABC, and it sure looked high def. what is going on ?
It hasn't been released in the US and AFAIK it's not been released on BD anywhere yet. The PQ on the DVD itself was amazing, I'm looking forward to when it's released on BD. I've seen a quite a few dvd only movies on cable that also looked incredibly high quality, I'm guessing they use a high quality scaler to 'clean up' the picture.is this movie available in BD ? netflix says no. but i just saw it on ABC, and it sure looked high def. what is going on ?
ya know. i was thinking they had some kind of non consumer format.TV stations don't typically go out and buy a DVD (or BluRay) to play off of.
I don't have the friends in the industry I had 20 years ago: but they used their own formats then and I suspect that the do now. IIRC 10 years ago, Disney's digital masters were in D5 format.
So I suspect that ABC was using a non-Blu-Ray HD source.
Are we going to have to take this outside? Not sure I'd even get the BD.
Why? I have the SD-DVD already, just don't see the need for the BD, but should it be released, well, then I'd have to give it some serious thought. I'm impressed with the SD up converted quality though. I haven't picked up the new Monster's, Inc on BD yet either. Are we going to have to take this outside?

Oh, I was just joking. An audio/video-holic not wanting to get the blu-ray just sound so, well, wrong. Why? OK, who am I kidding here.Oh, I was just joking. An audio/video-holic not wanting to get the blu-ray just sound so, well, wrong.Seriously, though, no need to ever upgrade if you're happy with what you've got.
Of course any delay this long is either about the features (getting drector commentaries and the like) or (more likely) timing for the market.if there is a commercial HD copy out there. then why would it be such a big deal to burn that to BD ? maybe they are just playin the market .
