I'm having trouble finding good reviews on some in-wall speakers. I have a budget of about $1,5000 for a 7 channel setup (just speakers, not receiver, or sub).

Can one of you audioholics give me your take on what I should buy for this budget? I'm willing to go +500 over budget if it's worth it.

TIA!

How about something like this

Front left, right, and center - IW 827 LCR ($510 each)

Left & right surround - IC 408 FG ($334 each)

Left and Right back - IW 406 FG ($282 each)

What do you guys think of this setup, and brand?

This would come to about ~$2,560 (only 1,000 over budget).

If you have auditioned the speakers, and you like the sound - then go
for it. Upper level Jamo speakers are nice.

Thanks for the reply, I'm not sure where I could listen to them before buying, and in this setup. I guess I could buy them and then return them if it's not good.

Would you consider these to be upper level? I'm also not sure if it's a good idea to match different series like the 400's and 800's

Anyone here have in-wall speakers? If so, what do you have and do you like them?

Also, these Jamo speakers come with an optional back plate that cost about $150. any advice on getting them or not - what the difference is?

Thanks

There is a sliding glass door on the right side towards the middle of the room so I couldn't put a speaker on the wall there. I thought I would at least make them parallel by making them ceiling speakers. No good?

I will not say no good - however, I think that I would use in-ceiling
for the surround and rear speakers - so it would sound a little more
coherent in surround mode.
Also, on a side note for the front LCR - you can turn one of them
horizontal for the center channel.

If you can squeeze that extra $500 you mentioned, it will go a long way towards some other (and potentially better) options.
