I am about to install some in-wall speakers in a new bulkhead I am building. I know normally in-wall speakers are expected to be in a 2x4 or 2x6 wall with 16" oc studs.
In my case they will go in a bulkhead that is almost 6 feet long and 14" deep. Should I build a "back" for this wall so the cavity behind the speakers in more like a "regular" wall or should I just leave it open in back.
If I leave it open, the space behind the speakers will be about 6 cubic feet. Will that severly impact the sound? These are cheap monoprice inwall speakers that will be in the kitchen so a minor impact on sound quality is no big deal. However if they will sound really bad like this I want to close up the wall behind them while I still can.
