In wall speaker for Rear Channels

The route most people are suggesting is from the receiver in the front, down to the baseboards and run both rear wires along the baseboards to the right back to the utility closest in the back of the basement (there is a door to the left of the receiver after the left front speaker and I don't want to screw around with taking off door frames). Once in the utility closet the rear right will be relatively easy. The rear left will have to go from the utility closet across the ceiling about 10 feet to the corner where I want the hanging bookshelf. The 10 foot run is what has most guys worried. The ceiling at this point in the basement drops down about 1 foot so there must be some kind of ducting etc there. Thankfully the ceiling is flat (no stipple etc).

This last guy recommended sending in a guy for 30 mins first and using his fishing tool for the left rear speaker to see if this route would even work. I don't mind spending that extra bit of money to know what I'm getting into before the whole project starts.

If some installer can get a wire from the front avr through the front wall and then across the ceiling to do a ceiling mount he is surely good enough to go another 16 to 18 inches to do a ceiling mounted bookshelf, even if a minor patch and spackle is required at the speaker area. In the long run you get exactly what you want. What is above this ceiling, if it is carpet on the second floor cant you remove it from the tack strip and cutout an access hole in each bay where the speakers will be below, How will the installer get the wire at the front wall up inside the wall and through the wall plates and into the ceiling joist cavity without patching drywall.

Using tools like this will make running wires through walls and ceilings easy. There are several bands to choose from, using the led flashlight attachment is nice as well. When running up or down a wall there may be fire stops, so its always goos to have a flexible drill bit like this
