I am not sure, for a lack of better words, maybe its sonic bliss. Lately I have been researching receivers to death and I am growing tired. I am happy with my Pioneer 1014 pre/pro and LPA-1 amp, but as you know upgraditis is a terrible virus and hard to get rid of. I have no use for HDMI at the moment, so I tell myself, why are you researching new receivers? Then there is the new Emotiva processor coming out soon, boy that looks nice. Please look at my signature, and talk me out of getting something else, and keeping my LPA-1 that I have up for sale. What is intriging me the most is a better room calibration system and dynamic volume/dolby volume. But are they worth the price??? BTW, room treatments are completely out, and I love my speakers.

Just hold your horses there buddy I would wait to see the new Emotiva if you are interested in it. There are also many options that you can explore with out having to jump in yet....You have very nice speakers, you should love them...

Well, if better audio quality is what you are after, TrueHD and DTSMA need the HDMI connection. While you can get it through 5.1/7.1 analog, it just seems crazy not to want/need HDMI on a receiver/pre-pro that will be purchased in the near future. And not only that, the features/control a receiver/pre-pro would offer for that HDMI connection should be extremely important, and researched as well.

I would be weary of the EMO pre-pro secondary to the simple fact that they have issues with their amps and amps should be easy compared to pre/pros.

Get an upper end Denon and be done with it.

I disagree. Unless you need the latest features (and it sounds like you don't) there would be no reason, and a waste of cash for the speakers you are running. IMO

Alright, my previous silliness aside, I would recommend that you wait. It sounds like you are happy with your gear, but that you've got that "new toy" itch. Scratch it with something else, or just fight it off. Receivers just keep getting better and cheaper, after all, so the longer you can wait - the better you'll get for the money.

Thanks for all the input guys, I appreciate it. The reason room treatments are out is because my family room opens up wide to a kitchen. My seating area is on the back wall about 16' from the front speakers. I really don't have much choice.
I am still thinking that UMC-1 may be the way to go for $699 and mate it with my LPA-1.
Maybe I should sell off the 340SE's across the front and get the sierra-1's?

Because they would be the biggest bang for the buck sound quality improvement that you can get, especially if coupled with a Behringer DCX-2496. That's why I won't get 'em.

Actually I don't have that because of I can't afford/sell the G/F on them.
