I plan on installing 4 speakers in my ceiling, should I keep them all the same or can i mix and match by the way this is all for home theater.

I was thinking of having ones facing down directly behind the listening area and having ones that face 15 degrees farther back but towards the listening area

so these are only for the surround speakers ?

the "side" speakers should be at 100 to 110 degrees (just off your shoulder) and, if the units have a pivoting tweeter, aimed at the prime listening position. The rears will benefit from the angled baffle, and if they have pivoting tweeters, aim them as well.

I would recommend at four be the same if possible. The angled baffle would work for the "sides" as well...just postion them to direct sound towards the prime listening position.

Yes they are only for surround sound, I am having a ***** of a time trying to figure out where to position these things. I cannot find anything on the internet I have been looking at the Polk Audio RC80i but they are angled at 15 degrees or should I just get ones that face down and just angle the tweeter?

The main speakers it is important to match, are the front speakers and the center speaker to maintain timbre ( seamless front sound)

I have four Definitve Technology UIW BP/A speakers. They are bipolar ceiling speakers that have a retangular cover and fit flush but have and awesome sound presense.

Mine surround speakers are all four the same, but you can actually mix and match the surrounds. The surrounds are for enhancement and dont have to match the fronts , center and sub.

Good Luck!

I'm preparing to install a pair of UIW BP/A in the [drop] ceiling as side surrounds and a pair of UIW 55 in the wall as rear surrounds. Are all four of yours in the ceiling? Did you build back boxes for them?

I have the BPs in-wall and 64s in-ceiling and no backboxes. Audyssey set up the BPs @ 60 Hz and the 64s @ 90 Hz crossover points.
