I'm sitting here, and can't think of one possible alternative to the x-cs's. The SVS SCS-01's are as close as IMO your going to get.

This system should get the job done and will match your sub. Also, since you are a returning customer, you should qualify for the discount price. :D

SVS has a pair of the SBS-01's for $179 in their B-stock inventory. I might get those with the SCS-01 for starters, to see if I like the way they sound. If I do, I could possibly relegate the SBS-01's to the rear, and buy two more SCS-01's for L/C/R duty as pictured above. And the center fits where it needs to - the wife will be happy. :)

Are you handy at all? What about a custom built entertainment credenza built by you? You can design it with the wife and make it fun. She can pick out the color and all that as well. Veneered MDF can be stained, or the use of a stained high grade ply would look very nice as well.

You get the best of both worlds. You get the center you really want and she gets the asthetic look she is after.

Handy... hmmm. I'm handy with electronics, and handy with using tools. What I am not handy at is woodworking, unfortunately. Anything I attempted to build would inevitably look as if it were built by an amateur - which would be very true. :)

Still, as I type, I realize, for a basic credenza (rectangular, nothing fancy) I don't see how hard it could be. I may buy some wood and experiment. :)

If anyone has any links to tips or "how-to" articles, I'm all ears... :D

I just threw up in my mouth a little...
Me too. I need some listerine.

I actually like the x-cs better than the big foot. Good luck trying to find a cradenza that fit's that sucker any way.

If you get the Left, Right, and surrounds in white, it'd be $149/pair new:

they don't have the center in white anymore, but you'd save $150 on the other four speakers.

Great find abboudc, but unfortunately the white wouldn't work for us. Most of the furniture is modern deco - black, black w/marble color, etc.

And let's all make no mistake - the pants definitely belong to the missus! :D She only lets me borrow them from time to time. ;)

Holy crap, Maze - you're a freaking genius. Where do you come up with this stuff?? :D

For reference (I just wanted to show off that SVS in this one! :))

And the furniture - my dog being the good boy he is! :D That marble paper looks like an exact match!

The end table - the picture is a bit dark, sorry. :(

I would laugh like hell if that dog would take one of those remotes in it's mouth, and you chasing it around the house. Out the back door the dog goes, and you give up chase. Dog buries remote for safe keeping for another day. LMAO :D

I think those SVS's may be "orange peel" or "black textured"...contact paper probably wouldn't work unless it's a smooth surface.
abboudc,

The contact paper. It was a joke.
