Impedance matching volume control

Dear All

I am hooking up 3 outdoor volume controls to two of stereo Boston Voyager rock speakers and a pair of Polk atrium (45). So 1 volume control per speaker.

Do I need Impedance matching volume control as i am only using it for one speaker only or should I just go for any weather proof volume control?

Thanks

A volume control is generallly for one pair of speakers so 3 volume controls for 3 pairs of speakers is required. You need impedance matching if you intend to drive all three pairs from a single receiver or amplifier channel.

Got it,
so it is related to the receiver (stereo receiver) with 100 W per channel.
I am using a speaker selector to maintain the impedance.

Ok, will buy the impedance matching volume controls

Thanks again

If you're using a speaker selector and it maintains the impedance then there is no need for impedance matching volume controls. The only issue is a lot of speaker selectors maintain a constant impedance of 4 Ohms which is still too low for a lot of receivers to deal with (at least when you crank it and keep it there for long periods of time).
