What the heck?

Finally getting everything reassembled after incorporating a new component stand and the new Denon 1712 I picked up yesterday. Still need to do a better job with my cable management. What a mess.

But, fired everything up and while I waiting for my DirecTV box to sync up, I flipped over to the Blu-ray player. Quantum of Solace still in the drive. Turned the volume up to -11db and let her rip.

Out of the box, I swear to Big Guns Upstairs that it sounded significantly better than my Denon 591. Hadn't so much as even looked at the menus on the 1712. The only thing I changed besides the receiver was I moved my left and right Monitor 7s out about 1.5' on either side to get me closer to the whole equilateral triangle things. Clarity was improved and it the sound seemed more open...like it was sort of floating in the room. And it was LOUD.

About the time QoS reached the opening credits sequence my wife joined me and said: what did you do? That sounds a lot more clear?.

So I don't know. Maybe we're both silly and it's some sort of weird placebo effect. I won't be able to run Audyssey until tomorrow night to see what that does for me.

Ordering my subwoofer on Friday. I haven't even opened my Harmony One y et. I keep saying it: this stuff sure is fun! ;)

Yes, he is a great person, known him for a long time. ;):D
I don't doubt it. I've been reading about Power Sound on some other forums and he's even had potential customers call his home on Sunday to discuss their needs.

I receive the last email from him at around 2AM this morning. I bet he loves what he's doing. Good for him. :)

Of course he loves what he is doing. Back in the old days he was one of us, an audioholic but on another early audio board. :D
