Did you get Elvis In Memphis and Back In Memphis? Both are FANTASTIC. There is also 3 great box sets The Essential Masters 50's, 60's and 70's. A must have and all you will need by Presley. DVD concert wise get That's The Way It Is (Special Edition). The sound is superb!

Ya, I went the box set route for the sake of brevity. I'm starting to reach critical mass in my collection, so the box sets help me conserve space.

I don't have the Beatles, Stones, or Cash...

I don't see a problem...but I do have Weird Al, Celtic Pirates, Kraftwerk, and TMBG... Everything is right in the world... ;)

I'm not much of an Elvis fan,I actually liked his silly movies better,

and not much of a "Beatles" fan either,I think the work they all did solo after was MUCH better.I love solo Harrison,McCartney,& Lennon.

I'm an old classic/hard rocker.

I have trouble buying or listening to anything that was worn out by the "Top-40" type stations when I was younger. Never liked Top-40 or how they played certain music to death. To me it's listening to 'Happy Birthday' sung over and over.
So with that being said, I have no Beatles, no Elvis, just a few Stones. I love Pink Floyd, but can not listen to Money ever again.

I find that more often than not the best songs are not played on the radio... although I am guilty of this often, as a practice, I try not to typecast popular rock bands.

My parents never cared for Elvis' music because it was overplayed. My older brother loved Elvis from a young age so I got to hear quite a bit of it growing up.

Elvis, The Beatles and The Stones were played way too much and did get on my nerves, but looking back each band has a few tunes that are really quite good if not brilliant. Some of them were even played on the radio.:)

Good post Doug....so true.
I have a few college stations that I listen to, they play more local artists.
It was more the Top-40 radio that was the problem.
