Personally, I would get the 3808CI from J&R for $1,100 brand new.

And I would get the NHT Classic Three x 5 identical.

Toss in the Onkyo refurb TX-NR905 for a grand which has better video proccessing than the Denon. Try PSB or Monitor Audio as well.

Are you going off of specs, brand loyalty, the look, or that you heard both and prefer NHT? Or some other or combination of reasons? Just looking for insight.

OHHHHH, and I found a hifi shop that actually carries Energy AND NHT that is about 3.5 hours away in Houston! I could not believe that I could find them both under one roof. I think I'll head that way tomorrow since I'll be off.
I've always liked the build quality of Marantz products. As for NHT, I prefer their sound over Energy in general.

I bought the NHT 3's and tried them out. It definitely wins in the mid-range...it is a 3-way design after all. I also found the bass to be more controlled than the Energy C3's I have. Despite this, I liked the sound of the tweeter and the overall room filling sound of the C3's. So.....I'm bringing the NHT back and will order the Veritas 2.2i.

As for the receivers, I opted to hold onto my Pioneer 1015TX for another 12-18 months and will get an amp instead, most likely a Rotel or Parasound.
