Steven was just pulling your leg abit.:D

You have very excellent electronics. I take it with that size budget Classical or acoustic music is important to you. I would allocate a portion to acoustical treatments if you have not already done so. This will be necessary to bring out the best in very high-end speakers. The B&W 800 series, The Heritage series from Klipsch, and the Platinum ( or whatever thei top product line is named) series from PSB would be a partial starting point. I believe Thiel also has offerings in your price range. Lucky you!

What's wrong with MartinLogan?

And what size is your room?

Anyway......I would do:

1) Definitive BP7000SC front L + R = $3,600
2) Definitive CLR3000 Center = $700
3) Definitive BP10B Side Surround L + R = $700
4) Definitive BP10B Rear Surround L + R = $700
5)

Total = $5,700

+1, but would probably choose BPVX for surrounds.

I agree with this and it would be within his budget after talking a dealer down. I think this would be an upgrade from the Martin Logans. Certainly worth demoing the Contours.

The BPVX over the BP10Bs for surrounds?

Why?

The BP10Bs (20Hz-20kHz +/-5dB) are true full range speakers that sound great as front main speakers, so wouldn't they sound great for surrounds, especially for SACD and DVD-A?

The BPVX/P is about 38Hz-20kHz +/-3dB even with the powered built-in subwoofer.

Only because of their size.

With $7500 I'd just complete the system I have now. I'd go with 2 Studio 20 v.4's and 2 ADP-590's for my rear/surrounds. Then invest in seperates to run the whole shabang. Whatevers left I'd throw towards the Pioneer Elite 60" Plasma, heh. Why scratch my current setup for something else that I still could not use to its fullest potential?
