Good afternoon to all!
I have a laptop which has an ieee 1394 port. What i want to do is hook up my 42" philips cineos LCD to it( the LCD offcourse has HDMI) The question is as follows. Is this IEEE 1394 port a DVI? If i get a DVI-HDMI adaptor will this work? IF so which DVI do I get? I red earlier that there are 3 types of DVI, which on does my laptop have??
Many thanks
a neewbie:D

No it is not a DVI port, it is a "firewire" port. Yes it can pass digital audio and video, but I don't know if there is an adapter that will go from that to HDMI.

Correctomundo, this port is mostly used for external device connectivity, such as various types of disk drives (similar to USB). It can also be used for networking. Most newer notebooks have a video out. Some of which have DVI (white port), VGA (blue port), S-Video (typically black port), and compsite (yellow port).

If you provide the model number of your notebook we can tell you exactly what type of connections your laptop has.
