HeHe....I actually have high hopes for this little known obscure movie. I plan to watch this tonight, so I'll let you all know what I think.

-----------
Private Joe Bauers(Luke Wilson), the definition of "average American", is selected by the Pentagon to be the guinea pig for a top-secret hibernation program. Forgotten, he awakes 500 years in the future. He discovers a society so incredibly dumbed-down that he's easily the most intelligent person alive. Also participating in the top-secret program is Rita (Rudolph), a prostitute who agreed to take part in exchange for dropping some criminal charges. By 2505, stupid people have outbred intelligent people; the world is (barely) run by morons--and Joe and Rita are the smartest people in America.
----------

Stupid comedies, anyone?

I actually enjoyed it quiet a bit. I thought it was another good movie by Mike Judge, but it seemed hit or miss with many people.

That's good news!!

In fact, I'm surprised someone has actually seen it!! It's widest release was only 130 theaters, it was gone in 35 days, and just released on DVD this week:eek: Either way.... when I read the description and saw it had Wilson too.........I knew I wanted to see it.

Before I even watch it, I'll take a gander into my crystal ball. It's Just a shot in the dark, but....... I am already expecting the "dumbed down" future population to be portrayed as being conservatives...HEH

It may be overt, or very subtle...but I almost guarantee that is what happens.

Either way.... I'm looking forward to watching this movie:D

The DVD was released a long while ago.
I would say its a pretty good hyperbole of what is currently going on in our world right now.
My mistake....

I was thinking it was a new release. Either way, I hope it's good for some laughs.

PS.... Aaaah!! I knew my prediction would be correct. HeHeHe

Great movie! I loved it.

Its kind of scary because a lot of it seems quite possible.

Yeah, very funny movie. I wouldn't say that the future population is represented as conservatives, though -- they're just idiots. They are run by big money, though, and there are other parallels to our current state of affairs. Funny stuff.

They were conservatives in the most traditional sense as in they didn't like/understand change, but in their case the this was caused not by liking of the status quo but by not understanding any paradigm other than their own.

Think the water scene. "Water, like from toilets?" :p

Just watched it tonight for the first time, too. Thought it was good. Average.

Although the whole Fuddruckers thing is great. I had a friend in junior high whose little brother referred to Fuddruckers as the movie does!

LOL..yea, my crystal ball must have really fogged up because my prediction never happened. If anything, rednecks should be offended....HeHeHe

They took a jab at Fox News, but that was hilarious. Heck... the newcasters could actually speak, so they might have been the 3rd-4th smartest people on the planet.:p

I agree.... the movie was a real hoot.

7 out of 10 stars. It was a great pizza movie. I stayed awake for the entire movie. :)

Well, this should be arriving today via Netflix, so I'll be watching it this weekend. I have to say that it was jaxvon's quote "Next on the Violence Channel: OW! My BALLS!" that won me over.

Watched it last night. I'll give it a 5 out of 10. If it was on regular TV, I would have changed the channel. Because I paid to rent it, I powered through. It was interesting enough to get through it, but I don't remember laughing much (if at all).

"Can you tell me where the base is?"
"I'm gonna base your face if you don't shut up!"

And who could forget... "Whould you like to try our EXTRA BIG @SS TACO?!?"?

I got through about 30 minutes of it and had to turn it off. I'm typically easily entertained by the toaster so I was suprised. I did have a couple chuckles in that time period :)

I also was disappointed. I usually like stupid humor movies (Blades of Glory, Super Troopers, Anchorman...), but this one was pretty bad I thought. Somebody brought it in a couple months ago when I was on overnight call at the hospital, so we watched the whole thing since there was nothing else to do being a slow night. Had I been at home though or by myself at the hospital, I personally would have turned it off.
