Identify this heatshrink

By any chance does anyone know what heatshrink AverageJoe used on these cables going over the cable pants?

It appears to be glossy in appearance opposed to being matte black (heatshrink normally found at Lowes or Home Depot) any help would be appreciated.

Those are cable pants, not heatshrink, but they have heat shrink over them on the ends.

I'm aware that he was using cable pants just wanted to know if the heatshrink he was using to hold the cable pants in that pic is just normal heatshrink . It looks somewhat glossy in appearance. Thanks though

Interesting, do you think it would be possible to tuck the techflex under the cable pants? Clean job btw

It looks like you didn't need any heatshrink to hold the pants in place, is this correct?

Correct. The jacket on the cable is thick enough that it slipped right onto there and didn't require the shrink. I could probably have tucked some techflex under there too.

I got them from Bluejeans. That is about the going price for them even when you buy in larger quantities. They are knock offs of WBTs for about 1/10 the price and work just as well.

Hey guys.

The glossy heatshrink was made by Insultab Inc. in Massachusetts. I happened upon 3 or 4 50 ft. spools of this 1/2" PVC shrink-tubing and liked the looks.
I had been using 1/2" Thermafix that I got from Merithian.com. It came on a 10' roll/"Dispenser Pack" in several colors, and is about the same except for the glossy look, but I suppose most 1/2" single-wall heatshrink would be similar.

My first attempt, I started off trying to fish Belden 1312a through 11mm four legged cable pants. In short, I gave up and started on the Belden 1311a for the surrounds and went back to the 1312a and just stripped 7 inches of the outer sleeve, installed the interconnects and called it a day.

You can see the legs on the 9mm 2 legged cable pants are quite short. I guess I should've ordered from wirecare or did I order the wrong cable pants? The four legged cable pants were fine lengthwise.

On a sidenote, you'll notice the normal heatshrink looks quite different compared to AverageJoe's cable build

I ended up using 14mm pants on the 2-conductor end of the bi-wire cables - made it much easier to get those doubled up wires through. I think your heatshrink looks great.
