One day I left the room with my turntable playing. As I came back I heard this "wappity-wap" sound. I walked into the room and found my kitten sitting on the spinning disk and each time she came around she'd smack the tonearm.

I will also advise against the dog for space issues. After the initial training you still have a creature living in your cramped apartment thats been evolved to run for miles & miles & miles a day. And some breeds aren't happy unless you live near water.

So yes the animal is hardly "suffering" with gourmet pet food, shelter, heat, and affectionate owners, but it would still rather live somewhere with a large yard.

That's funny but not suprising to me. Especially when they are young, they are attracted to anything that moves. When I was young, we used to setup an elaborate scene under the christmas tree complete with train. We had one cat that would lay under the tree and watch the train go by. He wouldn't let it go by more than twice before knocking it off the track. They seem to get bored easily, so after a little while they don't bother with it anymore.

As you can tell by my signature I have two greyhounds. My speakers are floor standers and are spike for the purpose of anchoring into the carpet and sub floor. As fast as my pups run around the house and tear the cr@p out of toys right in front of them there are no problems. Because of their whipping tails that slash about and those long wet noses I just leave the grills on at all times. Fortunately, B&W makes some really nice sturdy grills.

I really appreciate everones help in this matter. The response was tremendously better than I expected. Now I have a ton of suggestions to work on.

9f9c7z, the reason I said dog and/or cat is, I want a dog, my better half wants a cat. We will most probably end up getting one each. That way they will have something to distract them from the HT too ;-).

Once again, thanks everyone.
Try Papillon. We have two, and been told if there's three in the litter, we're keeping the runt. Absolutely fantastic little dogs. Not yappy, very loving, lots of personality. Our two are a riot to watch. They run around the house chasing each other. I get on the floor to play fetch and it will be 1/2 hour before I get my hands on the twisted rope, as they fight over who's going to bring it to me.

we have bichon. never shed and about a cocker spaniel in size.

they do not bark much. unfortunately they seem to be addicted to riding in cars. so watch your keys or they will take off in the car. hehehee. there are i think 5 breeds of them. the normady is the most desired if i am not mistaken.
