I now know that a 5.1 or a 7.1 will work, next ?

I am looking at the Sony's STR-DH700 and STR-DH800, both 7.1.....Pioneer VSX-819H-K, a 5.1.....they fit into the budget. Any other recommendations? The only place I have searched is in newegg. Other recommended sites.

They will be to hook up my LG 47LH90 Led/Lcd and an LG BD390 Blu Ray.....The old receiver is a Pioneer VSX-D701S (which I will sell, the remote is bad) and will just use my old speakers, Jensen's.
I also am using an older Sony DVD/VHS combo for just the tapes, an SLV-D100.

Hi, what is your budget?

My friend bought a Pioneer Elite VSX-21 from a third party merchant (Your Deal) via Amazon.com for about $500. There is no factory warranty when you buy an Elite like that, but there is some protection through Amazon, and the unit arrived new in perfect condition. They also have the VSX-23 for $570, whereas I payed $900 at Best Buy [insert picture of me kicking myself].

I've seen the Onkyo 507 is that price range, too. I don't know much about the 507, but Onkyo's 500-series has been quite popular over the past few years.

I happen to be a Pioneer fan, but this year I had to go to the Elite line to get the features that I wanted.
