I personally do not have this problem but I would like to find out what is fact and fiction. Is this more audio voodoo? I can not see dry wall reflecting a 200Hz or less bass wave and adding 3db to the SPL.

Thanks.

No voodoo- the effects of room modes can create nearly 20 dB deviations from flat (peak vs valley). All rooms have standing waves- they're areas of interaction determined by the room ratios. You may be fortunate in that they're distributed in a benign manner throughout your room, but rest assured, they're there.

Here's a brief and simple explanation for standing waves.

Indeed. If you room is the right size and you play a certain frequency, you can actually get such strong room modes that you can barely even hear bass in some parts of the room even if the system is cranked up.
