I have had the receiver for a few years and just got around to setting it up. I had a friend over that was poking around and attaching some speaker wires (which I disconnected) but when I went to turn the unit on this morning, the power comes on for 2 seconds and then the unit turns itself completely off. I have tried turning it on and then quickly pushing and holding the Enter and Advanced Surround buttons but the unit still turns itself off. I have tried holding these buttons down and hitting the power button but the unit will not come on. Can any one offer a fix to this issue? I am not sure how to get it back up and running.

The Receiver may have been unplugged before the power was turned off. Either way.....HELP

Welcome to the forum!

The comment about your friend poking around the speaker wires caught my attention. I know that you said you disconnected them, but it makes me wonder if there's a short circuit somewhere that is causing the Pioneer to go into protection mode and shut down. Try disconnecting all of your speakers, making sure that there aren't any copper wire strands bridging between two terminals on the Pioneer. After that, let us know if it still shuts down right after you turn it on.

Give what Adam says a try but, in the future, whenever kerfutzing with speaker (or any other) wires on the back of the unit or the speakers themselves, make sure the power to it is turned off. A quick accidental touching of two wires together can have expensive consequenses.
