I need a subwoofer

I am moving and I am thinking about buying this set up. But I want some advice from you all.

Polk RTi10 Front Speakers
Polk RTi6 Back Speakers
Polk CSI5 Center Speaker

or....

Athena As-F2
Athena As-C1
Athena As-B2

My question is...What subwoofer would go good with this setup..Price range
between "200-600" dollars?

My room is only 13 x 16, so I will only have a 5.1 Surround Sound Hook-up.

In my personal opinion I would go for the Polks just becasue I never really liked the fit and finish of the athenas. If you do go with the polks you will need a decent subwoofer to back them up. I have always felt that the Velodynes mix very well with those speakers, other subs that I ahve not heard but I know are good are SVS and HSU. If you do not mind doing a little labor (1/2 and hour to an hour at most), I would suggest buying a sub kit online. You will get a lot more bang for your buck if you do it.

That's basically my setup. The Polk's IMO are a better system. The towers alone probably weigh twice what the Athena's do (at least they feel like it). The Athena's handle power much better, and you don't need a powerhouse of one to power them like the RTi's. Dollar for dollar, everything being the same, go with the Polks. If you can get the Athena's for a lot less, go with them. Depends on your receiver. Any good SV Subwoofer will do with either system as long as you have the room for it. Figure $500 for an SVS.

As was mentioned, an SVS sub will do you very well. Is this an apartment? A sub may be a lease breaker

The problem I have is my room is only 13 x 16. So I don't really need a really powerful sub. I can get the JBL 250p for about 270 dollars and it's at Best Buy for around 475. Unless you all think It's a terrible sub I will go with that.

The best one you can get in that price range, is one you build yourself.

That sub won't rock your world, but it will be sufficient if you can get it in a corner. Placement is much more important with a lesser quality subwoofer. That sub sells for under $300 in a lot of places. You can get it here shipped for under $250.

My choice in your price range would be this. Dr. HSU designed this for BIC's Acoustech division. If you know anything about subs, you know the quality of HSU subs.

Try the 10" sub from Reel Acoustics. I now sell them with all of my Family room type systems. Can't beat the performance for around $360 TO 400.

You can get a PB10-ISD for $429. It will do +/-3dB 20 to 100 hz anechoic, 2 to 5 hz lower in your room.

Best for the buck? At $429, the SVS PB-10 ISD is difficult to beat.
