I need a starting point for car audio

Not sure what cars they are talking about, but a lot of cars aren't that hard to upgrade the head units on. It really depends on what you are driving. I don't do it though.

And, for crying out loud, if you install a sub, then put some damping material behind your license plates!

When I hear these boomers with the plates rattling, it just screams "amateur"
lol I know. I doubt I would get a big sub if I did get a custom system. I rather something for clarity.

Most important than your budget is coming up with a layout of your system ,if your looking to keep it simple I would get a 5 channel amp (good one) have one 10 or 12 in sub and a decent comp set for the front of the car and two or three way speakers for the rear, and get a good head unit , any questions feel free to contact me
