I am doing a little audio upgrade in an RV and decided ceiling speakers are likely too just make 'noise', not music, so I am looking to add bookshelves because that is all I have room for. I am a Klipsch guy but I realize you have to ride them right or they get overly bright and painful. I don't listen to ear bleed levels all that long, but I certainly do it and want that capacity and headroom.

If I had the space and desire, I would probably do proper floor standers, but I have to reserve myself a bit here.....lol

I will be running a proper high end receiver that will drive the two speakers easily with 140wpc at 8ohms and it's rated for 6ohms so maybe a bit more power.

I am NOT hugging Klipsch here, but it does seem like the RP-500M is a really good speaker according to many reviews. I REALLY want bigger and feel I might be disappointed but that's about all the space I can give and my gut is telling me my big system runs 3000W of power and I'm still not happy with it, so.....with that, are there any other bookshelves that have high sensitivity, quality sound, and won't sound like a turd?

I swear, I have narrowed the field but just when I think I found something, there is a review calling them junk. Elac comes to mind. JBL has always been known for their high HP goods. I know I have to reserve myself here and trying to stay on a tight budget and not chase minute details that won't matter when we are all drunk and jamming to whatever.

I should have mentioned that I 100% will be running a high output subwoofer so I won't be asking these little bookshelves to serve up bass. I just don't know what they will be able to do. Usually I want to see some mid sized drivers to carry the midrange but I just can't fit it all! I actually have to hide the sub under the floor! There is no room!

If your system is anywhere close to 3KW and you don't like the sound, you need to step back and look at what's happening. Sound is energy transfer and if the place is too live (acoustically), it won't be good for sound. You can pulverize the air with SPL and it won't help. A long box with hard sides, floor and ceiling won't sound good- the delays caused by the length cause reflected sound to come back to you long after an acceptable amount of time has passed.

Can you show a diagram of the trailer, with dimensions for length, width and height? Show furniture, too- if it's hard furniture, consider adding something to absorb some of the sound.

Considering your space limitations, the Klipsch RP-500M seems like a good choice based on the reviews you've come across. It's important to trust your gut feeling, even if you desire something bigger. Keep in mind that bigger doesn't always mean better, especially in constrained spaces.

In terms of alternatives, Elac and JBL are worth exploring. While there may be mixed reviews, it's important to remember that everyone's preferences and expectations differ. Reading reviews can be helpful, but ultimately, your own ears and personal taste should guide your decision.

Since you mentioned running a high-output subwoofer, the bookshelf speakers won't need to handle the bass duties. They can focus on delivering quality midrange and highs. While larger drivers are typically preferred for midrange performance, it's understandable that you're limited by space constraints.
