I know nothing about pre amps... Help me decide between an AVR and pre amp!

Powering the LCR with 2 crown amps using 3 of the channels. And the AVR will power the atmos and surround speakers. The center channel is also a horizontal 1099.

Don't have the atmos yet just some Dayton bookshelves for surround duty. Its a 5.2 AVR but only using 1 subwoofer. Sub is TC Sounds LMS-R ultra 5400 18". Its a 5.2 AVR. Need an AVR that supports atmos.
