Finally! I decided to get with the 21st century. I bought a Panasonic DCM-LZ2 Lumix 5.0 Megapixel camera. It's not fancy but it does have a 6x optical zoom. Check this out:

Aside from general messing around, it'll be nice for listing stuff on Agon or Ebay.

No, Mr. Funnyman- it's my Onix Melody SP3. True, it would keep your tent warm, provided you have some AC to give it.

Well actually, the top two rows of the left third are DVD-A & SACD discs. The rest are CD's. I probably have about 800ish or so, give or take 50-75. I haven't counted 'em in a couple years. Hmmm...possibly closer to 900.

I have more than a lot of guys, but I know guys with thousands.

That's a solid little camera. Nice collection of discs. That could be the record for SACD/DVD-. Are they insured?

I'm working on that. I have to tinker with exposure settings and stuff. I've got all the windows blacked out in the main HT room, so it's really dark all the time. My speakers are black, the entire front wall is masked in black, the drapes are very dark blue, the furniture is very dark brown and so is the carpet. Good for movies, not so great for photography.

You need to put your camera in either A (aperature priority) or S (shutter priority) mode. If in the former, adjust the setting so that you have a wide aperature (lets in as much light as possible). If the latter, adjust the setting so that you have a slow shutter speed (again to let as much light in as possible)

Of course, you could always just use the flash.

Even with a flash it's a bit dark, mostly just that the speakers are the same color as the wall (it's completely masked off with black fabric). What I need is a tripod so I could use a really slow shutter.

Much as I am a solid state guy the one thing I like about many tube amps is their retro/Art Deco look. Yours is a great case in point.

Buckeye, I do carry $35k of content insurance. It would be hard to buy them all back, though, no matter how much money. Many of them are long out of print, especially some of the 80's metal stuff.

I love that little tube amp. Leaving aside the issue of sound, it is a beauty. The look of it when all the tubes are lit up and it's pumping out music...well, it'll warm your heart as well as your room. That said, I probably want to sell it. And buy a Butler MC tube amp for my main HT rig. I bought it for my bedroom, but recent developements in gaming (Xbox 360, impending PS3) have got me thinking of going another direction and buying a 32" Viewsonic LCD TV and going MC for gaming instead of 2CH for music. Besides, my bedroom is a little smallish and poorly laid out for optimal stereo sound.

Ah, I'm sorry. You could send it over this way...so it won't be a complete waste.

Hey Rob, remember you have to prove you actually owned all those and whatever else is insured to collect after damage/loss. Hence, the value of that spiffy new digital camera. Take a bunch of pics of all your possessions on a small memory card/stick and tuck it away in a safe deposit box or fire resistant safe.
