i have the yammie 2400, should i gofor the hk 630?

Ebay is auctioning it for about 490. the 2400 was the first revciever i ever got. in the back of my head, im always thinking HK is a better sounding unit. am i crazy? what should i do?

The 2400 is a great receiver, and it's really not even outdated. I think that would be more of a lateral move than an upwards one. Some say the HK's are softer/smoother sounding amps. It could be their lower thd levels at higher volumes. Some of the lower end, older Yamaha surround receivers were notorious for overabundant sibalance and fatiguing highs. It's not a problem with the newer Yamaha models, from what I hear.

What speakers are you running? What type of music do you listen to?
