almost a year, as I was promised my home theater from my wife, and it seems the chips are getting ready to get cashed in.
going with either Samsung 6187 1080p or the Sony KDS60a20000, I am trying to justify the extra 350 for the Sony. Any feedback?
I was sold on the Bic Acoustech's but am leaning towards the a set of 4 Athena f2.2's and the C1.2 Center, and save for an SVS Sub..... Unless of course I win the SVS 5.1 Giveaway (dreaming)
Reciever is my issue, I really wanted a component - upconverting to HDMI Reciever, but they are way out of my range to my knowledge, as 400 seems to be my limit on this the Reciever,
I have narrowed it down to 3,
in order Pioneer 1016, yamaha 659, with the athena's being so efficient the Pioneer 816, and maybe save a few bucks. but something tells me I would regret the lack of HDMI inputs/outputs.
Am I correct that the Pioneer doesn't upcovert the component connection to the HDMI output on the 1016? so I still have to run Components to the TV?
Room will be 15 x 13, I just got done getting all my lines, Tucked to where I can Drywall the Ceiling, and Will be running the dedicated circuits and speaker cable and wall plates, I am intending on installing some 2" conduit in the walls and having pull boxes 5.1 wall plates for any future "wire" upgrades
I am going to try to make my own cables out of Cat6, as I can get it in bulk free from work. and just get some decent Bananna plugs for the wall plates and Receiver,
My questions are a few.
1. Would the Pioneer 1016 be overkill on the Athena's?
2. When the new OPPO 981 comes out, will the SONY and or the Samsung accept the full 1080P signal through the Pioneer 1016 (sounds like my minds made up doesn't it) ? Or are either TV's really only going to be getting 1080I?
3. Are 4, F2.2's overkill for that size of room, (wife non withstanding...It's my room so she has backed off on get the little cube speakers speech.)
If I go with the Samsung and 816 I think I can cough up enough for an acoustech H100 sub.
Currently I am just using my Klipsch 5.1 THX Cpu system for my movies.
It's nice to know I can come here and not get the roll eyes for all my excitement......
