I have been selling off a bunch of gear...

Since I have been around the house a lot, I started clearing out my gear storage room, I sold all of my pro amps {except the 2 in my outside pa system} one shot craigslist $1400 a couple band kids came up and they were in heaven, I also gave them a couple old mixers I had... I sold my tad monitors, both pairs of my Truths, a pair of focals, 3 pairs of bookshelf stands, a couple old tube amps, a couple old avr's {that hurt, one I paid $1600 for sold for $190, lol}, and I am getting down to the last of it, I just had 4 auctions end on ebay my son wrote up for me, almost $1000 for an ascend 340c, d1 dac with forest cable, one of the sherbourn pre1's I bought when they were on sale, and a pair of carver mono blocks {apa150 style} with stands...

Anyway, I am going to list a few more things in the weeks to come, my jade 5's, my tekton lores, jolida tube amp, and a few other things, then I am going to take all of that money and maybe buy..
Parasound p5 {$900 used with the amps below}
pair of parasound jc1's {$4100 used, like new}
pair of ascend towers new
pair of hsu uls15's
and then after that is all here I will sell my evo2's and wd12 subs, with the emo xpa2 and xda2....

I am not sure yet, but I think this is what I am going to do, I still have some thinking about it to do, I really do like my evo2's... I am on the fence...

Ever consider a DIY project? There's a profound satisfaction that comes from listening to your gear and being able to brag, "Yeah, I built this." You might also consider getting a miniDSP while you've got some mad money. If the miniDSP doesn't work out for you, they generally sell on ebay for pretty close to retail, so you aren't risking much.

I have a mini dsp 2x4 works well, but its a lot of work, lol... I kind of like the ease of turning a dial or changing an fmod, to cross over, lol.. The mono dsp is definitely nice and they work well and do a lot, but with a nice pre amp like the xsp1 p5 ect just dialing in the cross ranges is really nice...

LOL, I know you love avr's in music systems ***** help you}, lol But it is NEVER going to happen in my house.. If for no other reason, not to deal with an avr remote. Heres a story for you, enjoy it, I wrote it thinking about you...

Imagine me coming home from a 12 hour work day, kicking off my shoes, stripping off my jacket, shaking the snow from my hat before depositing it into the wooden bowl on my hall tree. I walk into my parlor and sneak around to my sofa, when I sit down I feel it, "I am almost there", sitting in front of me just a few feet away.... musical bliss.... I made it home before my wife, the kids are at some school function and I am all alone, nothing to think about for at least 18 and a 1/2 minutes!!!
I reach down and pick up the remote, so close to that feeling that is going to wash all the problems of my 15 employees, hundreds of customers, and handful of reckless family members away.... BUT WAIT, what is this cheap plastic remote I feel, and hundreds of buttons, I fumble around to find the one marked "POWER" and finally I see light, BUT WHAT LIGHT, its is so bright!!! Now what does it say, "DVD" no, I dont want DVD, MUSIC !!!! I just want music, my large callous covered fingers try to navigate the clutter of tiny buttons but to no avail, now it says "VCR", I haven't owned a vcr is over a decade, but yet them 3 letters taunt me, so close to having that sound seal the room from the rest of the world and completing what I was missing all day. Now illuminated by the lunar source in front of me I squint to interpret this plastic device of the devil himself, FINALLY... I find "CD", I depress the tiny rubber stud and something happens, at last the cd player pops to life, and the screen flashes "CD", I can feel how close I am, with great haste I mash the brightly colored play button, and it all comes to fruition, I hear something happening, a rumble of some sort, I don't recall which cd I left in that little drawer, but I am sure it is going to be something friendly and welcoming for me, but this rumble is different, sharp and far off set from where my speakers are sitting.... Then it hits me, its not coming from my painstakingly placed audio equipment, its origin is far less welcomed... Its my kids, throwing their cleat filled duffle bags down the hallway, I am no longer alone, I squandered my precious time trying to get my system to come to life while killing my dream of listening to some classic tune that was recorded decades before I was born...
My fantasy is now further buried as I hear the garage door opening, my wife is home, but don't fret I will now have something to listen to, she will no doubt have a thousand tales about her day to share with me.................

ANYWAY, I have tried using an avr, but I hate them, even in direct mode there is something wrong with the sound, nothing like a cd player or any source, a volume control and an amplifier or 2.... I like mono blocks just because how they look, its attractive to me, a pair of amps for a pair of speakers.... I wouldn't buy the above gear for full price, but I have the opportunity to purchase a gently used pair of jc1's with a p5 for $5K and maybe even a little less.... So to me, it sounds good since I like Parasound gear and I like mono blocks, the jc1's are sexy...

I've sold and bought a couple things on ah, I sold a set of stands {I think to Irv} and bought a cd player {through Irv}, but thats about it, I think I bought a pair of booksehlfs too... cant remember if that was here or somewhere else... Ebay is just so easy, my son lists it, it is sold in 5 days and it brings good money in most cases... The pre1 I bought for $149 on sale sold for over $300, the amps I bought for $190 shipped sold for $350, the ascend center I bought used for $100 sold for around $200... Although the d1 dac didn't go for much, $120 with a forest cable but some one cancelled their bid last minute so messed the entire auciton up, no big deal, that stuff hardly ever happens...

I will list the jolida amp and some other stuff next, I may also sell 1 of my carver tube amps... The jade 5's hopefully I can get $2000 for {they probably don't have 3 hours of play time, and are perfect, music direct has them for $3100}, and the Tektons I would like to get around $800 for... I also still have some wd subs, but most of them items I don't want to ship, so I will do 30 day auctions with local pickup only... someone will come across them...
