I have a speaker dilemma (Need Help)

Let me start off by saying I have been researching my HT set up to death. I just can't make my mind up. My home theater is my basement and it measures 18x16 with 8 foot ceilings. I have included a picture of it at the end of this post.

My dilemma is deciding which speakers are going to be better for my room. Let me know what you think I should do.

Option 1 - Right and left CF-70's with a CC-10 center

Option 2 - Right and left RC-10's with a RC-LCR center

Either option will be paired with a decent sub that I haven't made my mind up on yet.

Out of those two options, which way do you think I should go. I have heard the CF-70's in Best Buy next to a pair of B&W 684's and I liked the Energy's more.

Judging from that image and your stated room size, I'd go with the Energy CF-70/CC-10 combination. BUT, don't right off the B&W 684s completely. I'd give them a second listen. Either one should fill that space with awesome sound very easily. As for the subwoofer, I'd lean toward a 12 inch sub. There are lots of good ones to choose from _ many of them frequently mentioned here in audioholics. You may have to get that at another dealer or order it online, because for some reason Best Buy has little if any larger subwoofers.

I'd go with the RCs.

If you can swing it go with 3x RC-LCR across the front.

Speaking of budget - what's yours?
Why not go with 3x P163 - they are $85 /ea and get a better sub

Sounds good to me. Practical. Accurate. Respectible.

But I think the OP does not want to take any chances of having to return the speakers if he does not like them.

He has listened to the Energy and likes them.

The problem is the speakers you hear in other places might (will) not sound the same in your own home as we all know.

Btw: I know a place which offers good prices , free shipping and 30 days no question asked return policy

I agree with you completely, but what are you going to do?:D

Some people don't even want to mess with re-packing the speakers and taking them to UPS and all that.

It's like returning to the store to me.

I'm fine with it. It's actually a lot easier for me to ship back than taking it back to Best Buy and wait on that ridiculous return line, but what are you going to do?:D

I got all my tSc speakers based on web site review, with 30 days returns and guess what - I didn't returned them since I did like them and review was accurate and very useful :)

p.s: The fact I got most of them at 20% off liquidation sale didn't hurt ether :D

I just ordered the sub and receiver. Now I just need right, left and center for about $800. The CF-70's are $250 right now. I heard them in Best Buy and I thought they sounded great. I think they will sound even better in my house considering the room is smaller, I have a better receiver than what they were using to drive them, they were using very thin speaker wire and the signal get broken up by two boards before even reaching the speaker.

Is there anything else in the $800 range you would go for?

By the way. I heard the Infinity P262 and again, I thought the Energy's sounded better than them. Not to mention, the Energy's are also more efficient and look better.

I would buy the CF-70's and find the coin to get the LCR center...even if I had to wait to buy the center.

I did just post in your topic on the bluray forums but I thought of something else...you could just get 2 pairs of RC-10s and use one as a center. You've got plenty of room considering how high your display is mounted.

Another option is if you were willing to wait on a center you could just get a pair of RC-LCRs for $700 and try to pick up a third later.

If you like CF-70 just go for them.
Don't worry too much about speaker wire gauge - for short runs (under 50ft) AVG 14 should be fine (maybe even 16)

There is a speaker, which I consider to be superior performer to above mentioned speaker, but it lacks in the cosmetics department

Add the matching center for total - $866, but you'd still have about $100 in shipping + optional $100 stands for fronts to make them look like full towers

What is an Infinity P262?

You mean P363? or P163?

If the Energy speakers sound better, then go for it.
