When you say somebody designed it that way, I presume you mean inside the amplifier. (If outside, the point arises that you can then shift the mains cord?) Inside the amp the length in question would probably be too short to worry about.
The loudspeaker output impedance (not the 4/8 ohm, but the amplifier output impedance) is usually so low that mains cable in close proximity cannot induce anything there. (I am talking of usual domestic use, not where you run them together for tens of meters - not saying that would influence, but I have no experience of that. Only such an instance seems to be very unlikely.) Also, do you hear any hum - if not, then not to worry.
But to explain exactly, perhaps you can reply re the first paragraph; distance of "closeness", etc.?
