I cannot get closed captions from any devices connected to my home theatre receiver. I can get captions from dvds played on my dvd player.
But I can not get captions from television programs broadcast on my dvd recorder, VCR, or cable box.
I have the captions turned on at both the television and the cable box.
The receiver is a Denon 3806 connected by an HDMI cable to a
Sony KV32HS420 TV.
Connected to the receiver is:
JVC-HMDH5U D-VHS recorder connected with HDMI cable.
Oppo dvd player connected with a DVI/HDMI cable.
Panasonic DMR-EH50 dvd recorder with component video cable connection
Motorola DCT 6200 cable box with component video cable connection.
At the receiver I have the video conversion turned on for the dvd recorder and cable box to convert the component video to HDMI.
Since the video from the dvd player and D-VHs are already HDMI, I have the
conversion turned off for them.
I can't help but think the problem is with the HDMI cable from the receiver to the TV and that something is overiding the captions from the TV and cable box.
Has anybody else had this problem? I would really appreciate any advice on how I might solve this problem. I have searched the forumns and haven't found any information .
