I have now had it. After the 3rd post I have put in the ground to be able to move to high def and get rid of the second dish, they have done it again.

"He told you to put it there? Well I'm sorry sir but that tree is in the way."

I can't take it. I'm actually numb at this point. I can't even bring myself to call them and yell. If there was any other way to get TV I would have ripped it out and handed it to the guy.

How can they constantly hire incompetent people. I mean come on this guy that told me where to put the post was a supervisor. I hear today that he quit a day or two after he was at my house.

So my decision is to now have a nice scotch and forget about it.

Enjoy your scotch, Craig. It's cool. Just think about that nice projector and big screen that you have. Well, and that P-Dawg doesn't have them. :D (J/K, Dawg!)

I've always installed my own dish, and you should be able to find the correct direction to point the antenna online (here is one site for that stuff). If you have a compass (for the azimuth) and a protractor (for the elevation), you can see for yourself really quick if there are any obstructions.

I know I am going to go watch something just has to be kid friendly. Just need a decent buzz depending on what she chooses. I hope it is Cars.:)

I know I could do it myself but it all this is supposed to be a "free" upgrade and they won't leave me the equipment to do it myself. To upgrade my boxes along with the dish would be at least $500.

I really think I would have gotten a working signal but he would not do it. I just don't think he wanted to work.

Lynn and I were discussing cutting down the tree in question anyway but it has to be done by a specialist. It is a 100ft tall white pine. I don't cut things down I cannot put my arms around. It keeps me safe (or those around me).;)

Oh and I've just started scotch #2.

Ahh another scotch lover.

Well on todays card is your run of the mill 10yr old Glenmorangie. I prefer the port wood finish but this was a gift so who am I to complain.

What is your beverage of choice?

Oohh...not only does he drink, but he knows...Like cigars I don't like to limit my choices, however Talisker make one that is stored in Amoroso Sherry cask for that extra peaty flavor. Glenrothes has a tasty 10 yr.

I'm a Talisker fan myself, but I also enjoy Dalmore cigar single malt.

I'm a Talisker (hell I don't think there is a single malt I don't like:rolleyes:) but it not one of my favorites. A bit too peaty for my taste. The Balvenie doublewood is another that is a great buy and very good.

Ouch. That is a chunk of change. I think a good part of that price is the decanter. I like Macallan but in my budget range I have others I like better.

The in-laws got me a bottle of the Dalmore some some occasion. I thought it was very tasty. Laphroaig is interesting. When I lived in Austin one of the local restaurants carried the 10yr at the bar for a regular. Well he died and they still had 1/2 a bottle that no one ever drank. Needless to say, although I did not know the man, I decided to "finish" his legacy.

I couldn't agree more. The minute one thinks that older is better....think again.

There is an Opel Divines in Austin that hosts scotch tastings. I have tasted 10 yrs that wipe the floor 18 or even 21 yrs.

I feel like P-Dawg today. I start a thread about a real issue and end up derailed talking about drinking.

Speaking of which I think I will have another.

That is 3 for those who are counting.

I also feel like P-Dawg, but when he's waiting for a package to arrive (which used to be darn near every day :)).

at the rate of the single malt, it is plausible that a nap is in the near future anyway? I say flip a coin and turn up the glass.

I watched a very comical episode of installing a Directtv dish five times in one day.Yesterday, Sunday my so-so neighbor across the street had the Direct package for four rooms w/ HD and a dvr, they were very excited but I dont hold back ,he only went this route because comcast awaits payment of somewhere close to 600.00 maybe more so if they want tv this is the only option , after they run up this bill I guess they can get Dish .
Well anyway the Tech guy started at around 10.30 am ,sets dish on the roof of an out building about 30 feet from the main house, runs all his wires, couple hours later he hooks up the HD unit, now I am all up in this, I never had the chance to see Directs HD,so he has a screen that shows his % of signal and its like 50% both line top and bottom so he says he will go tweak the dish some well after one half hour more the signal never got any higher than 70% so he go's to the neighbor and says "see that big oak tree over there ,its blocking my sight line"I am going to move the dish, well this happened four more times,24 holes in the roof and one hole with a bag of cement in the yard' then one hole without cement is where it ended up on an eight foot metal pole in the middle of the backyard, 6:30 pm when he loaded up his van now I am no rocket scientist well at least not any more, but the direction the dish points in would have worked no matter where it was on the roof, when he first had it on the roof he was pointing it in a totally different direction than where it is now,and his % of signal 82% he said that was the best he could get in this area :confused:I think the HD looked so-so not even close to my comcast HD so it cant be right ,can it.

Looks like someone got the "new guy." That sucks. Hope he patched all the holes in the roof and please don't tell me duct tape and a trash bag (wouldn't put it past any of those guys these days).
