I don't think that driver was blown by an audio signal. The amp may well be defective. It needs driving at full power into a dummy load and checking for DC off set under power.

Car subwoofers get abused, thats why JL doesn't warranty voice coils anymore, etc. Guy was probably doing sine sweeps at a high volume and the coil heated up. Was the sub mounted in the trunk? Probably was half on fire by the time he heard anything was wrong.

If it were me, I'd claim that the sun got it... Couldn't have been abuse.:cool:
