I got my Dream Speakers!!! :D:D:D

Just got home with a pair of Mirage M-3sis in "very good" condition as per Audiogon. I have wanted a pair of these since the mid 90's when I first heard them. Haven't had a chance to hook them up yet (or even unbox them) but I will post pictures and reviews ASAP :D

Congrats on fulfilling a dream. I really have no idea how they sound but I'll will assume that they are very good. Enough so to make them a dream speaker. As always, we will be expecting a review of some type.:D

Ok, I got them hooked up and some Pix. I don't know what to say, I got a shiver up my spine and for the first time in my life, tears came to my eyes while listening to music :) I haven't even put the Spikes in yet or bi-wired them.

My amp is a little underpowered for them (100wpc into 8ohms - 150 into 4 ohms) The M-3sis are 6 ohm, but it is doing better than I expected. Also I know the 16 gauge wire is too small, I am going to bi-wire them with 14 gauge which I think would effectively be 12 gauge. The only negative so far is that the fabric "socks" are faded on the back side a bit, they were in a very bright room, but the drivers show no sign of damage.

Their sound is wonderful, the soundstage is awesome. There's nothing I can say that hasn't been said in reviews before except maybe **WooHoo** :D

Congrats on your dream speakers. Speaking of Mirage, that first picture made me think I was looking at one. They look like my Def Tech 7002's turned sideways:)

Wow...just...Wow. That is quite the imposing setup. If they sound half as good as they look, you've got an awesome system on your hands.

Nice looking speakers.

Yes they are.
Thanks, these replace my good old BP-10s (original), I like black piano lacquer finishes also. I need to replace my Def Tech C-1 center chan with a M-Csi if I can find one. I really enjoyed my BP-10's over the years, but I came to find them not to be as musical as I thought they were. When I recently picked up the Athena S2s, they blew the BP-10s out of the water for musical clarity. I continued to use the BP-10s for surround, I like BiPolar spks for that. Now my Mirage replace both the S2s and BP-10s.

That is a very nice looking setup you have. DT has come a long way since the BP-10s

Well, I Bi-Amped the speaker (more info on that here) and the sound is amazing, the added detail was quite impressive. I think the Adcom amp I am using for the Woofers is a bit underpowered You can read about that in the previous link, but overall I am again blown away but these spks :D

Congratlulations, if they sound as good as they look, great :D

You need spikes, I use three, not four and get better bass by this I think, becase if you have four it's close to impossible to get them leveled so that all four have equal pressure on'em... with three, it's not a problem.

And you really need to make sure amp is not getting under pressure..... so you need power... At least that's my opinion

I found out how to take the grill sock off, here are a few pictures for those who love naked speakers.

Another perspective, this picture is from exactly where I sit, I need a wider angle lens for my camera.

Well, I have had a lot of time to sit back and listen and enjoy my system. I picked up a Citation 5.1 amp to better run the M3s. I run it in 4 chan mode (it is bridgeable to 2 channels) Biamping, so to speak, the M3s. I also pulled my PS Audio 4.6 preamp and Soundstream DAC off the shelf and started using them instead of my Yamaha rec. That made a noticeable improvement. The M3s are now completely separate from my Surround system (see sig for component breakdown)

The sound is beautiful, the sound stage is fantastic, very full & enveloping. In some songs I swear some of the sounds are coming directly from my side, actually it was kinda weird at first.

I never really thought I would be able to put together a system this nice, I am not rich. But I have pieced together some pretty nice equipment (imho) and couldn't be more pleased every time I turn it on.

Good show man, congratz on achieving your goal. Proof that there is life in good used gear. I picked up a pair of Mirage Omni 550 on a whim & a great sale. I’m liking them more all the time.
