I am connecting my jvc receiver to my samsung smart tv

I can hear that the speakers are working just the way I had it set up before I moved anything watched on tv would be in surround sound

Receiver to tv with red and white to DVD on jvc receiver and option DVD selected on front of receiver

still confused. should be dvd to jvc. jvc to tv, what dvd? .

connect everything to the jvc and video cable to the tv. it's time to upgrade that JVC it's well past its usefulness

It works good but setting on tv or receiver has to be wrong ..it worked great before

correct, you can use yellow to the jvc then to tv or component direct to tv

Just the sound not the video no dvd player connected. On the front of receiver is different inputs I've always used the DVD input so therefore I have red and white (left and right audio)connected to my DVD option on back of receiver , and red and white connected to my tv ....

try connecting tobacco different input

if the audio is connected from the dvd to the jvc I'm not sure what the tv has to do with it. connect the red and white directly to the jvc

There is no DVD player involved...there is a DVD spot on back of jvc receiver

Sources are...DVD vcr tv sound tape/car and fm/am...it always worked on DVD
