I have noticed recently that there is humming coming from my speakers. So I went thru unhooking everything I have and plugging them back in one at a time. I found the humming is caused by my HK rec and also my TV. With both plugged in it just doubles the hum. I currently live in an apt and this is the only outlet I have to plug my stuff into. My question is should the APC H15 Power Conditioner help with the humming?
PS..I also made sure no wires were laying over ecah other or crossing. Its definately the TV and Rec. Please help

Isolate the receiver from the suspect sources.

Do you have a cable box attached to the TV?
If so, disconnect the coax and see the hum is still there.

Do you have a sub, and what circuit is it plugged into?

Your APC H15 will help if all offending gear is plugged into it. In the since it will put them on a common circuit and ground.
That still leaves the coax and the sub woofer.

I currently do not have a sub or cable box. Just basic cable. I just did more tests and found out the main culprit was my Tripplite UPS. It has a fan in it that sounds like the same frequency as the hum. I unplugged it and almost of the hum is gone. The little that is left is really quiet and maybe the APC will get rid of it. Im on the phone right now ordering it off tiger direct. The problem is its now 199.98 but I have the manager on the phone trying to do an override for me ;)
So the triplite is no longer in my system. Besides the humming the fan in the tripplite is just too plain loud. I would not suggest these to anyone unless you have a closed cabinet to hide the fan noise.
PS....Just got off the phone and did get him to lower the price back to 99 for me. So for anyone still wanting one ask for the supervisor to override the 199 price.:)
