Hulu taking over the world? Over Time Warner's dead body!

At least I hope. Last month, Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes unveiled his "TV Everywhere" plan. This is designed to keep paying cable subscribers from jumping ship to Hulu (or other sources) by allowing them to access their TV programming on a multitude of platforms. Comcast apparently will be testing a similar program this summer. But do the cable providers really have your best interest at heart? What do you think?

Great article. It is frustrating that content providers don't "get it". When I watch TV I never watch commercials, I recorded it to watch later or pause it so I can skip them. But on Hulu I don't mind watching a few commercials, I'm not entirely sure why they doesn't bother me on Hulu.

I was looking for a way to easily get Hulu and other online content providers onto my TV but after looking into it they seem to be doing everything they can to keep it off my TV. There are things like PlayOn that you mentioned but from what I've hear it isn't well organized when you use it making it not so user friendly.

I use my PC as a DVR and have put a lot of movies on my PC and stream them to my HT through my PS3. Now if there were only a way to easily and conveniently get Hulu and other online content on my HT...

I hate crapcast and now I have TW out here in CA. I don't think they give 2 sh*** about the paying customer they just want to rope you in.....

Crap. Canadian ISP's are banned from watching Hulu. How stupid is that? I can get the same shows OTA but I can't watch them online. Frickin' CRTC strikes again. It's almost like living in China.

Since when is the US 'the world'? I know that is being picky, but it does make me wonder about how smart the people running these sort of services are. Region limiting a service that is deliverable to unlimited regions is one of the most ridiculous ideas. Those that think that by controlling when content is delivered to specific regions will afford them higher returns should not listened to. To get access to Hulu in Australia I must mess around with proxies, VPNs etc. And I have to watch it on my PC? No way.
I can just continue to download content ripped from broadcast. The argument that I am a minority is probably correct, but I have no problem sharing these files with the majority by passing around a hard drive once a week.

I am tired of the quantity over quality mentallity. It is the same group of people who patron McDonalds because it is convenient, not because they make a good hamburger.

NetFlix has the right business model. $20 a month for almost unlimited and quality content. I would pay double that and drop satellite like a bad habit if things get tight around my household.

I gave up on cable a long time ago. They never did provide a consistent quality signal.

Now, if you can give me quality video and audio with the convenience of multiple platform support, then I am in.

Why does the "TV Everywhere" sound awefully like the premise behind the movie AntiTrust? I can't wait to see what happens.
