Hi,
Thanks A/V. Yes we do have Onkyo here right in my city.Well for no particular reason Onkyo havent enthused me. Do u think Pioneer is a better option? I saw this system on their website.

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/product/detail/0,,2076_2047433_209695987,00.html

Any suggestion is welcome. Once again I thank u for the reply.

BTW I am from the southern part of India. My state is called Tamil Nadu.My city is Chennai formerly it was called Madras.
Cheers,

That Pioneer package seems a pretty good choice also. I actually prefer Pioneer, I just went from an older model Pioneer receiver to my 1015, and the 1015 is great. I've heard a lot of good things about Onkyo, that's why I recommended it. Pioneer is also good though. If you can listen to an equal priced system from both companies, you'll be able to make a decision based on your personal preference, which would be the best thing you can do. If you can't, I think either one of the two systems would serve you well. I'd also look at inputs/outputs and make sure the one you choose has what you need. I asked about where in India you're from because my father was born in Karachi, Pakistan, and he just got back from Saudi Arabia for his pilgrimage to Mecca. Good luck on your decision, let us know what you decide on.

Hi A/V,

Thanks for reassuring me on Pioneer. The onkyo u recommended retails around USD700 here in India. can u beleive it? Unfortunately we dont have an authorised Pioneer outlet here in India. If I go for Pioneer then I have to get it from Dubai through a friend. The shipping wont cost me much.Price at Dubai is the same as the US. But the downside is i wont have any warranty(service or otherwise).I will be on my own.Ok cant have everything in the world.

Delighted to know ur dad is born in our neighbouring country.
Cheers.

What about Dubai?

Dubai is one of the worlds best "shoppers paradise", or at least it was a few years ago. I know many people from Europe who go there to buy flat-screens and sell them back home for a profit. I will be going there soon and have big hopes of great deals on electronics; is this no longer the case or is it because of India's exchange rate?
