I have the High Def 65's in my ceiling and use them as rear surrounds. They are built solid and sound great. They have rotating tweeters which I like. Besides rear surrounds, I also play music through them in 7 channel stereo (read: LOUD), and they sound good for that. I have a square of standard insulation behind each, but no box persay.
For the price, I'd recommend them. I am actually thinking about getting a pair of the in walls to put in the back of my HT/bar area with a separate amp, as it is a long way away from the rear surrounds (read: I'd like it louder down there

).
The HTD's will blow away those sony micro speakers. I haven't listened to the standard one's you got, but I am sure they will be fine. Post a review when you have a listen, OK?
