I think my sub is very similar to the one you had, I'll try and save up for the vtf3 mk5 and check back in when I make the purchase and report what I hear change wise. Thanks again

Okay, I didn't realize that I could just use an external splitter. I guess that makes sense since subs already have their own amp... Okay i guess it would be nice to have a sub that I didn't have to turn the gain knob to 3 o clock or better to get to where I'm happy with it haha.

Thanks again to everyone for helping me out.

Just measured and it will fit where the klipsch sub is now. If that's what I end up doing is the monoprice RCA splitter and 12 guage wire decent stuff? Looks like it has good reviews and I can get 250 ft for about 60 dollars. Any thing wrong with sticking that klipsch sub in the opposite corner of the room even if it's behind a recliner?
Actually $60 for 250 ft might be CCA (copper clad aluminum) instead of pure copper....
Well there are other issues with the avr, it only has one sub output and there is a handshake issue between that receiver my PS4 and the TV so unless I like the screen blacking out every couple seconds I have to Output the audio on my PS4 through an optical cable and Route the HDMI straight to the TV so I am even losing out on the HDMI audio quality.

I am planning on getting a 4K HDR TV for that room also and a 4K Blu-ray player. My girlfriend is much more into video quality so that would make her happy. It would be nice to have something that at least has 4k pass through and supports the new HD audio formats at least dts-hd.

With that being said should still just get a better sub and wait on the rest?

Also I am happy to report she doesn't wear earrings :)
I bought my last splitters and reel of 12g from Monoprice.....this stuff

Thanks for the cable suggestion, ordered.

While doing more browsing on subs I saw that the klipsch r115sw is comparable to the Hsu vtf2 mk5. I also saw some crazy deals on them, as low as 425 from Fry's. So while looking to see what I can get one for in Illinois I found this.

https://m.newegg.com/products/9SIA36V4SG0088

A klipsch r115sw, two rp260f's and a Yamaha rx-a 1060 for 2150 shipped. Since these are the exact pieces I wanted I think I'm gonna save up and go with that package. Broken down that's 350 per tower (best new sale price i could find), figure 1100 for the Yamaha (-100 from what ive seen else where) and that leaves the sub for like 350.

If like to hear what you guys think before I pull the trigger. This way I can also finance it through newegg and just make payments so long as I pay in 12 months no interest either.

Then I would run my rf10 towers as surrounds and it would be complete aside from the video side.

Btw I've picked the ring out, will be picking it up this week and plan on popping the question in August. :D

I don't think that the Klipsch is comparable to the flexibility in terms of setup options of the vtf2 mk5, and may not outperform it despite a larger cone.

I'm not much of one to buy anything on credit, especially for luxuries, a house maybe :)

Good luck on your proposal!

Haha don't misunderstand, I realize it won't outperform the VTF2, just saying it looks close based on specs and reviews. Just looking at the value of this package and the convenience of getting it all once and shipped free.

I am guessing the VTF-2 will have deeper extension, but the R115SW will have more mid bass output. If their pricing were equal, I would go for the VTF-2, but if you can score a R115SW for less than $400, that looks to be a very good deal.

That's basically where I'm at. Thanks for the input

Well as a quick update SHE SAID YES!!! As far as my HT setup goes I have great news and good news. My new Fiance was so happy with the vacation, ring and proposal she bought me a pair of RP260f's and an R115SW when we went to a store that had them in stock (she doesn't know much about audio but knew I love klipsch.) Still waiting for the sub, the store offered to ship it for free since we couldn't fit it in the car lol.

So that was the great news, the good news is that because she is done putting up with the obnoxious and bulky (her words not mine) speakers in the living room I got permission to build a small home theater in the basement. Only downside are it's L shaped, unfinished and has concrete floors and walls.

So since I'm happy with my speakers now and I know what else I want down the road for expanding into atmos and a new AVR I need some advice in acoustic treatments for the basement. I was planning on carpeting the floors, running heavy curtains along the walls and doing some absorption treatment on the walls, under the curtains. I'm thinking with a thick padded couch that should tame the reverb. Thanks in advance :)
