Just bought a LG 3510a DVD/HD tuner, I want to watch the Steelers game tomorrow in HD, one problem, I cant find CBS! I tried an indoor antenna, and my analog cable, I got a bunch of stations, including ABC, but no FOX or CBS. Also what's up with these channels? I get ABC on 113-07, What is this - stuff? I look online and it says the chan should be 16, yet I still see this "xxx-xx". I need this fixed by gametime tomorrow, or I am going to open a can on someone!

On those numbers_ A friend bought a Sony HDTV, hooked it to the cable, he is not subscribing to the digital service and he has similar channels with decimal points. He asked the TV to search all channels and all those other stations showed up, plus music service and more. Supposedly they are the digital channels? Free? Now I may have to get one of those HDTVs:D

yes. I get a ton in HD, and in 5.1 for that matter, but their not decimal points, its a dash, ie, ABC here is 113-07, which makes sence, because ABC is chan 07, local. Now, if I type in 113-13 (which should be CBS, as CBS is ch 13 local) I get nothing. I can't even find out what the frequency for CBS is, heck, I'd bild an antenna for the freq for the game tomorrow if I had to.

This might help

If the ATSC tuner is a QAM tuner it will pick up any unscrambled digital channels. Which means you can get the local HD channels for free. (If available) I don't think the Cable company can scramble the "free" local channels. Keep searching you should be able to find CBS. If not, the link above will give you the proper direction and type of antenna you should use to get a signal.

Try the DB4 Antena

I had a crappy "Wing" antena on my dish that did not work well at all so I went out and bought this one and it works great on both Analog & Digitial stations and I am 50 miles away from our local Antena Farm. I have a built in HD and Analog tuner in my Sony and have a "dedicated" Antena plugged directly into my HDTV in case the Sat. dish ever goes out.

Anyone, little help here?
Mac, a little late as I didn't see this until today. Did you get it working? If not maybe you can get it sorted out for next weeks games. I'm confused, are you trying to get OTA HD or HD from your cable? If it's OTA and you are getting some of the channels but not all then you need a bigger/higher antenna. In my market all the stations broadcast from the same direction (to my home) but that's not the case in all markets so you may need to rotate your antenna to pick up all the stations. If you have cable and they offer HD that will be your best bet for getting all the stations.

I got it sorted out. I was trying to get OTA. Turns out, everybody transmits from the same spot here in Albuquerque. Well, CBS has either 1. Much lower transmit power, 2. Directional gain antenna, or 3. I am in a null of their antenna.

I got out my trusty tektronics 494p spectrum analyzer, and found them to be about 8dbm down from everyone else (482-488MHz). I bought an amp, but the noise figure was 3.5 and of course that sucks so it didn't work. I ended up building a Yagi, and coupled it with my existing antenna; I now have plenty of signal.

Thanks for all the help though.
