Thanks Peter. I have heard we may have to ship the sub back to you?? That would cost a fortune. And some of us aren't too confident opening up the sub and screwing around with it but as long as there are clear instructions, everything should be fine..

and one more thing. Will it be easy to get in Canada?

thanks again

.....(could this be an attempt to go after someone's, ahem, cylinder market, for DVD audio enhancement?).....

Dear annunaki,

Craig is absolutely right. The "turbocharger" concept is designed to enhance or expand on the variable tuning idea that Dr. Hsu introduced so many years ago with the VTF-2. Turbocharger is a cost-effective way towards boosting low bass output, decreasing port turbulence-related noises, lowering tuning without sacrificing available port flow area, all while providing flexibility of use and all without compromising floor space. The neatest thing is that existing owners can instantly boost their low bass performance with this device.

In a sense, this is still an idea, since the product is not yet available in tangible form. However, in theory and from our initial testing results, the idea works very well in practice.

Sincerely,
Do not get me wrong, it is a good idea and a great way to take care of existing customers. That is a good thing!

However, calling it a "Turbocharger" and making it seem as though one is doing something truly special is kind of misleading. Like I said, all that is being done (based on what I have read/seen on the subject) is a lengthening of the port (I would assume with a flared opening on both ends) and a couple simple changes to the amplifier/crossover.

I doubt it. Hsu had cylinders, ahem, first, and they are bringing back the famous TN1220 in the future.

Good morning annunaki,

However, calling it a "Turbocharger" and making it seem as though one is doing something truly special is kind of misleading. Like I said, all that is being done (based on what I have read/seen on the subject) is a lengthening of the port (I would assume with a flared opening on both ends) and a couple simple changes to the amplifier/crossover.
Many good ideas are very simple in nature. Take the variable tuning idea introduced so many years ago on the VTF-2, for instance.

I do not know how one would define what is a "special" upgrade option. All I can say is that this is a very cost-effective approach towards boosting low bass performance, and a large step forward in variable tuning, period. Special or not, simple or complex, this is all irrelevant. The most important thing is that consumers will have the ability to boost low bass performance for a relatively low cost. Since this is a part of one of our patents pending, this is an option available exclusively at Hsu Research.

There is more to the story here that I cannot yet reveal at this time. You might be surprised at some of the ideas that Dr. Hsu has come up with. He is a true audio genius.

Cheers

Dear Johnny,

Turbo units should be available there!

The STF-3 modification for lower 18Hz "native" tune should be pretty straightforward, and all one needs to do is send the amp to us (not the entire subwoofer). It may even be possible that the modification can be done at home.

Sincerely,

I will look forward to more information when it becomes available. Remember, I do think this is a good idea. It will be neat to see if it is something truly innovative. :)

I just bought a VTF-3 MKII. I had a Cambridge Soundworks 12" sub. All I can say is WOW. It is spectacular. Clear and Sharp Bass. My normal test track is The Matrix (the lobby then the helicopter scene) and Star Wars I (the race scene). Turbo or no Turbo, the thing rocks. I'm running it off a yamaha 2500.

Peter Marcks,

We've had Craigsub's unofficial "eventually" to describe the availability of the turbo option. Would you care to make a more informed estimate? Thanks. ;)

Thank you for posting impressions, AK Man! I am so glad that you are enjoying it!

Good afternoon rjbudz,

The availability date of turbo is still uncertain at this time. :( Hopefully within the next few months! We are hard at work in trying to release the new technology as soon as we can. This will involve working closely with our good suppliers, in addition to performing our own extensive internal testing of the equipment.

Sincerely,
