old folks

Most of old folks at 80 will notice hardly any difference between a good HT system or a bad one.
So play a good movie that they will enjoy for what they see rather than what they hear

I'd show some good sounding movies to my over 80yr old parents, but there's not much point seeing as they won't remember them the next day.:D

I bought them a simple to operate DVD player for Xmas and left a half dozen movies, showed them how to use it (several times over the next month or two) and I'll let you guess how many of those movies they watched to date. Sorry, but no prize for the correct answer.

So if you have elderly parents who can still watch, remember and value a good production, then you (and they) are very fortunate.

My 81 year old mother seems to be having trouble following movie plots anymore, but ask her a phone number, and she's almost always right. Me, I can't remember any phone numbers I don't use a lot, or did when I was young, but I can do dialog from movies I saw 35 years ago, word for word in most cases. Mom is truly scary with the phone numbers. She remembered one for a place she last called two years ago, and she only called it 2 or 3 times total, area code and everything!

you are all missing the point, at 80 you cannot hear ANYTHING (i know sad), the wizard of oz in technicolor will AMAZE them!!!! play something simple like old bugs bunny & elmer, or 50's style mickey, they'll think its new & love you (good thing they're working on hearing so we'll hear like new @ 80 :D
