How to connect my computer to my receiver

People here are very willing to help, it just seems like you keep asking the same question over and over and yet will not accept the answers. First you started with a question about why your receiver is showing PCM and not Dolby Digital when connected via the digital coax output on the soundcard. I told you why and the various settings on the card and your media player to check. Instead you switched to a different cable.

The Audigy 2 ZS does not have an optical input or output. The cable you showed looks like one end is a mini plug but it is not. It is obvious that there are no active electronics anywhere to convert digital data represented as voltages (coax) to digital data represented as light pulses (optical) and I stated that last time. You cannot convert analog to digital or one form of digital to another with a cable.
I understand but it comes with an adaptor that is the size of a 3.5mm mini jack, I just didn't understand that it actually isn't a mini jack, it's an optical cable with the size of a mini jack connector. TLS Guy confirmed that there are soundcards out there that use a 3.5mm mini jack size optical cables.

Here is a simple test:
Get behind your computer when you turn your digital out on. See a red light out of your soundcard? It's optical.

If you don't see a red light, it's coax. You'll need a 3.5mm mono to RCA mono to connect the digital out to the digital in of your receiver (unless your receiver lacks digital support)

If it's a analog receiver, get a stereo 3.5mm to stereo (dual) RCA plug and plug the RCA into an input (except phono) and plug the 3.5mm into the line out.

The point is that it is an optical cable and the Audigy 2 ZS does NOT have an optical output.

Correct. My Audigy 2 only does digital inter-connectivity through a coax/3.5mm mono cable.

Bandphan, I do not understand what cable I bought because it doesn't seem to do anything. I came to you guys to find out what it does and what are the possible uses this cable is good for. I think I have answered my own question but I am trying to verify it with you guys.
ok, then why did you purchase it if you dont understand what its for? No one is knocking you for asking questions, i think what is being said is just accept the answers, thats all. Almost all soundcards use mini out for digital, and its coaxial. Auzentech makes optical out and its toslink. In your case there is no use for that cable.

I have one of those cables. I use it to connect my mp3 player (iRiver H120). This player has a jack line out that doubles as a optical out. That's why these cables exist.
So, like others have said, with your current sound card, you can't use that cable.

You have two choices now:
1. Return or sell that cable
2. Buy a sound card with optical output (if you have the toslink adapter)

I love optical, I simply can't resist holding the optical cable and point the light beam to the receiver optical in. This is my version of wireless sound transmission :D
