"When you set it to small, the high end is cleaner because less frequency demand is being amplified!"

Its a good thing you chose the red pill my friend...

Come on Ross, just say what's on your mind!

Lets say; 100w amp A has to amplify 20-20k, and 100w amp B has to amplify 80-20k. In the 80-20k range, Speakers on amp B would be getting more power!

BTW, back in the day, I took whatever color peel worked!

Z,
I apologize if my atempt at "humor" isn't well understood in these parts. My previous one liner was a form of agreement towards your comments.

In your example, speaker B would/could theoretically be exhibiting more control and accuracy. I agree with you on this area.

PS. if you saw the first Matrix, you should understand the whole "Red Pill" phenomena...

best,

Does this mean you are a "Master Debator?"

I follow the manual at first and then set my speakers according to what sounds better to me.
For music, except for the centre, I almost always have mine set to large. Small just sounds too empty.
Is this wrong?

I set all my speakers to small. Both on my receiver and on the dvd player (for multi-channel use.) I have found that having the speakers set to small you get more response from the subwoofer when listening to 5.0 music discs. Of course everyone has thier own opinion. So let your ears form your opinion...

Your Yammie receiver hands off below 80 Hz.

Set all speakers to small including your towers according to your manual. If you don't like it, set them to large. Play with your gear to get the right mix.

Question of the day is.. What do you prefer?

Good luck.

...and what about the variable low-pass sub settings?
