How much room do i really need? BP7006

I went and auditioned the definitive tech system i originally listened to today.

BP7006
BP2x
CLR2002
Cupercube
Only difference is i would be doing an SVS PB12-NSD or HSU VTF-3 MK3 instead of the supercube II

They had about a foot behind the bp7006's and they sounded very good to me.

Do i really need 2 feet behind them?

In my personal experience, you need at least THREE feet from the front walls and THREE feet from the side walls.

I have plenty of room on the sides its behind them that will be tight. They wont be right against the wall but i definitely do not have 3 feet

For more spacious, 3D, echo free spatial reproduction, yes.
For your personal fidelity requirements (the only one that matters), no, clearly not.

I have my BP7006 towers less than two feet from the wall, but more than a foot, and they sound wonderful. You don't need at least three feet behind them for them to sound good, placement is key to get them to sound good, and every room is different. Just get them home and play with moving them to and from the wall, toed in a little bit and go with what sounds best to you.
