How much power will I need?

Hello all, new to the forums here. First let me say I am not a audiophile (ie I don't know much about hardware) just someone who enjoys music. I need to replace my system because it is to old. I started by picking out a speaker system - All Paradigm - studio 100s studio cc-590 center and a sub 12 and I would hopefully use my older Phase Techs for the back. I would like to buy a Denon avr to drive these speakers in surround for movies but 95% of my listening will still be music. What would be a "ample" supply of power for a 20 x 34 room without going overboard? I would like to get it right the first time. My music taste include just about everything rock, pop, jazz etc. Thanks in advance if you can help.

In general, the more power the better for a reciever. That is a pretty good sized room. I've never owned any Denon products, so I won't suggest any specific models. My advice is get an AVR with preouts so you can add an external amplifier later on if you need to. You may not need it, but in my opinion having the option is a good thing. I have v.4 100's and they can be a bit power hungry. Depends on your normal listening levels too.

Depends on how loud you go.

I suggest onkyo's 05 series (805,875,905) all the time cause their amps are beasts but I like really loud and had a room half the size of yours with my digms and I still wanted a touch more ha.
