This is an old thread but I remembered it when I was browsing my folder of random programs and found Super pi Mod. No one benchmarked a Core i7 so here's mine:
I built the machine a few weeks ago. Specs are as follows.
Asus P7P55D Pro
Intel Core i7 860 Lynnfield @ 2.8GHz
8 GB Muskin XP DDR3 1600 RAM
Asus Radeon 5870 1GB Video Card
Seagate 7200.12 1 TB HDD
FSP 700W PSU
Lian Li Aluminum Mid Tower
Asus 24" 1080p LCD Monitor
The fact that Super Pi only uses one core was probably a benefit because in that situation (where one program is using one core) the CPU actually overclocks itself to improve speed.
