How fast is your cpu? - Super PI

I use superpi as more of a stability test rather than seeing how fast my cpu is.

I'm confused as to why your 6000+ X2 only got 27 seconds at 1m. My Opteron 148 will do 26 seconds on 1m when OC'd to 3.2

Superpi must not be multithreaded.

Well with that said, that 6000+ would walk circles around my Opty with one core lol.

I did it on two machines. I think I got you beat with my Intel box.

The discrepancy between the five year old AMD and the two year old Intel is amazing. The AthlonXP machine is still perfectly usable on Windows 7 though.

I would test mine and post it...but there is something wrong with my processor. Only 2 of the 4 cores are working XD
I'm waiting for summer when I have time to part with it for about two weeks to get it fixed.

Super PI only uses one core at a time so it doesn't matter if only 2 out of four are working.

Anyone in the know like to explain why my E7400 goes from 1600mhz to 2200mhz, when it should be 2800mhz?

This is most likely due to speedstep, a feature that changes the cpu speed to match computing needs. You can usually turn this feature off in the bios.

I wanted to re-run this test with my new Mobo (and CPU running at 2.8Ghz)

2m = 45.984s

Time to overclock.

I'm getting some page load error when I try to download the PI. However, I have an AMD Athlon X2 6400+ @ 3.5Ghz, so it's probably just a bit faster than yours Alex.

I just Pushed my E7400 to 3.5, 1m at 15.203s, 2m at 40.344s.

This is an old thread but I remembered it when I was browsing my folder of random programs and found Super pi Mod. No one benchmarked a Core i7 so here's mine:

I built the machine a few weeks ago. Specs are as follows.

Asus P7P55D Pro
Intel Core i7 860 Lynnfield @ 2.8GHz
8 GB Muskin XP DDR3 1600 RAM
Asus Radeon 5870 1GB Video Card
Seagate 7200.12 1 TB HDD
FSP 700W PSU
Lian Li Aluminum Mid Tower
Asus 24" 1080p LCD Monitor

The fact that Super Pi only uses one core was probably a benefit because in that situation (where one program is using one core) the CPU actually overclocks itself to improve speed.
